Danville’s Blackhawk Auto Museum

Blackhawk Auto Museum Front

Did you know that one of the finest assemblages of custom motorcars and early automotive art is found right here in the Tri-Valley?  Danville is home to the Blackhawk Auto Museum, and on a recent field trip with my son, I had the opportunity to experience the museum first-hand.

Our group was initially escorted into the North Wing of the museum where they had historical information on the founder, a local real estate developer, Ken Behring.  There was also a life-sized wax figure of the founder that the kids seemed to really enjoyBlackhawk Auto Museum Field Trip.  After a quick tour, we were escorted into the main wing of the Blackhawk Auto Museum.  I instantly felt as if I was transported back in time to view some of the world’s greatest automobiles.  The museum does an effective job of presenting automobiles to the true aficionados while still striking a chord with enthusiasts and people of all ages.

The showroom floor is immaculate and impressive.  The cars are in pristine condition and wiped down throughout the day. The entire building is close to 100,000 square feet and while the interior was designed to present fine automobiles, the facility is used as a stunning backdrop for events and even weddings.  Take some time to visit the next time you are in Danville.

The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students with ID. Persons 65 and over; children six and under accompanied by a paid adult are admitted without charge.

    Hello,

Just would like to check in to let you know the Blackhawk Musuem’s admission price is going up $2 across the board. $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Group rates and other discounts are still available but will also be raised by $2.

If you’d like to remove admission info to sidestep any future inconvenience when the Museum changes its admission price agaim, that’s perfectly fine as well.

    Thanks for the advertising!
    Ken
